The TV favourite, and star of the BBC’s Antiques Road Show, Flog It, Cash in the Attic and Bargain Hunt, will be heading a team of experts hosting the Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers Valuation Day at Sheffield Cathedral on March 12.

It’s the second year the Derbyshire Star has teamed up with the team from St Luke’s and Community Fundraising Manager Clare Robinson said the charity was delighted by the presenter’s support.

“This is our second year of working with Charles and his team and our experience last year was that people really did have some unusual treasures simply waiting to be discovered,” said Clare.

“Last year’s treasures included a Georgian tea caddy, valued at £1000, and a doll’s house made by a Great War German prisoner which was estimated to be worth at least £2000.

“Go have a rummage around in your attic and bring along your rare toys, books, Chinese and Oriental objects, decorative arts, modern art glass, furniture, jewellery, silver and collectables.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to find out if you’re sitting on an unknown fortune and at the same time you’ll be making a real difference to the lives of St Luke’s patients and their families.”

The event will run from 11am to 2pm and, although valuations are free of charge, there will be a suggested donation of at least £5 per person with a limit of three items each – and all the money raised will go directly to St Luke’s Hospice.
