AMATEUR botanists can get clued up on the area’s flora with a newly-launched South Yorkshire Plant Atlas.
The book has been published by Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union.
It details plant life, ranging from that found on the Peak District moors to species in the central area of farmland and woods, to heathland flora at Thorne and Hatfield Moors, east of Doncaster.
The book is lavishly illustrated and details over 2,000 plant species, maps showing where they are distributed, and records of plant life collected around South Yorkshire since 2001.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union said: “This publication will be an essential reference.”
The book costs £35, plus £5 postage and packing, for pre-publication orders made before June 30, after which it goes up to £47, plus £7.50 postage and packing.
Copies can be ordered by emailing email@example.com or by calling 01904 641631.
