Handsworth Parramore crash 5-2 in top of table clash

Handsworth edged in front with Jon Froggatt’s 33rd goal of the season but a quickfire Josh Greening brace made it 2-1 to the hosts. Sneath then received his red and the first job of his replacement, outfield player Tyler Bates, was to pick Corner’s penalty out of the net that gave the hosts 3-1 cushion. Parkgate pulled three points clear of the drop zone with a 2-1 home win against Garforth Town with goals by Craig Laight and Alex Lill.

Athersley Recreation made it back-to-back victories, beating Clipstone 2-0 at home through Danny Cawley and Kai Hancock as Rec moved six points clear of drop zone.

Armthorpe Welfare edged closer to safety with a 2-2 draw against Albion Sports at Church Street. Welfare came back from a goal down to lead 2-1 with James Walker’s fine equaliser and Dave Buck’s header but Albion levelled midway through he second half.

Retford Unitedsuffered their first defeat in three, 5-2 at Bridlington Town despite goals by Reece Hands and Adam Carter.

In Division One, Hallam came from two goals down at the break at Eccleshill United to salvage a 2- 2 draw and stay on course for a play-off place.

Michael Blythen produced a neat turn and finish for his 35th goal of the season and was then sent tumbling in the area for Steve Brammer to tuck away the resultant penalty. It leaves Hallam a point outside the top six with two games in hand.

Penistone Church remain fifth after coming from behind to win 3-2 at Dronfield Town. Lee Anthony and a Sam Bebbington penalty had given Dronfield a 2-1 lead at the break with a Oliver Fearon effort sandwich in between. Steve Kenworthy equalised before Daniel Joynes hit the late winner.

AFC Emley saw their automatic promotion hopes suffer after going down 1-0 at Selby Town as Darrne Hepworth’s side were beaten for the first time in 24 league matches.

Struggling Rossington Main lost 3-0 against troubled Hull United.
