Hammerton Road station
I was shocked this week when I was told the Hammerton Road Police Station had closed.
The Yorkshire Ripper was taken there when he was arrested in a car with one of his victims.
The car he was in had false number plates. When he was in the station he used the gents and when he came out a police officer went in to search the toilet and found a hammer and a screwdriver in the cisterns above the toilet.
That sealed his fate and was the evidence that convicted a serial killer.
