Hallam forfeit early advantage

PLAYING their first home game of the Northern Counties East season, Hallam threw away a two-goal lead against Thackley and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline banishing hopes of a fourth league win on the bounce.

The Blues went ahead on 19 minutes when Andrew Wood pounced on a poor clearance to fire home from close range. Just two minutes later Chris Dickman latched onto a loose ball in the area to lash a shot into the roof of the net. Thackley came more into the game but just when it appeared Hallam had weathered the storm the visitors pulled a goal back on 75 minutes with Ross Daley's shot taking a deflection off David Knaggs. It was all square two minutes later as James Firth found the net from a corner. Thackley substitute Danny Forrest then hit the winner.

Parkgate have climbed to 14th in the Premier Division table after a 3-1 home win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway. The Steelmen struck at two crucial times as Ryan Johnson gave them the lead while Matt Outram extended the advantage. Scott Somerville made sure of the points with Parkgate's third five minutes from time before Mark Hone hit a late consolation effort.

Armthorpe Welfare climbed to third in the table as Des Bennett's team made it four home wins on the bounce after beating Long Eaton United 2-0. Recent new signing Ricky Belding hit both goals.

Maltby Main saw their three match winning run ended in a 2-0 defeat at Pickering Town. Maltby went behind to a 71st minute Matt Biggins' strike. Richard Whitfield hit Pickering's second two minutes from time.

Brodsworth Welfare were denied a point at Mickleover Sports when Gavin Wilson's goal deep into stoppage time gave the home side a narrow 2-1win. Ryan Malee had cancelled out a David Holmes and it had looked like staying that way until the cruel late strike which was too much for goalkeeper Leon Sewell, who was then sent-off for foul and abusive language.

South Normanton Athletic came back from three league in a row with a 2-0 home win over struggling Glasshoughton Welfare. Second half goals came from Joel Atkinson and Valadmir Santos-Farrell.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic broke their league duck after coming from behind top beat Rossington Main 4-2. Jordan Pickering put the visitors in front but Kelvin Ryan levelled. Worsbrough took control with two goals in as many minutes both scored by Lee Garside. Ryan Poskitt made the points safe before Rossington reduced the arrears in stoppage time through substitute Chris Jackson.

AFC Emley gained their first league win since the opening day of the season, beating Yorkshire Amateur 3-1. The visitors opened the scoring through Steve Hart but Emley were level through Allan Laud before Gavin Birmingham nudged them in front. Laud wrapped up the points midway through the second half with his second and Emley's third of the game to send the Amateurs down to a first away defeat of the season.

Staveley won an eight goal thriller winning 5-3 at Pontefract Collieries to end a run of three defeats on the spin
