Hailstorms have blown into Sheffield today after spells of snow across parts of the city.

The freak weather has suddenly come down in the city centre but more could be on the way, according to the Met Office.

Its forecast for today: “After a chilly but largely dry and sunny start cloud will build to bring scattered showers, although still sunny spells will occur. Showers will be sometimes heavy, with hail and thunder, also wintry, especially over high ground. Feeling rather cold. Maximum Temperature 9C.”

And tonight, there could be more snow and hail on the way. The forecast said: “Scattered heavy and slow moving showers initially, with hail and thunder, also wintry over high ground. Overnight the showers will die away, leaving a clear night with a widespread frost. Minimum Temperature -1C.”#
