Gun fired outside Sheffield pub

A police probe is under way into a shooting outside a Sheffield pub.

Officers were called to The Wharncliffe on Bevercotes Road at 11.30pm on Saturday following reports of a gun being fired from a passing vehicle.

Nobody was injured in the incident but police cordoned off the crime scene and spoke to everyone in the pub at the time to find out what they heard or saw.

Police say the shooting is being treated as ‘a targeted attack’.

A force spokesman said: “Police are investigating a shooting incident outside a public house in the Firth Park area of Sheffield yesterday evening.

“Witnesses report that shots were fired from a vehicle towards The Wharncliffe on Bevercotes Road at around 11.30pm.

“Thankfully nobody was injured.

“Detectives believe this was a targeted attack and are pursuing active lines of inquiry to find those responsible.

“Extra patrols have been taking place to provide reassurance to the local community.”
