A gun was fired into a flat in Sheffield in what police believe was a 'targeted attack'.

The shooting in Moorfields, Shalesmoor, was reported to South Yorkshire Police at 6pm last night.

Nobody was injured in the attack, which is now under investigation.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports that a gun had been fired in the Shalesmoor area yesterday evening.

"It is reported that at about 6pm a gun was fired into a flat in the Moorfields area of Shalesmoor. No one was injured as a result of the incident.

"Detectives investigating the incident are pursuing numerous lines of inquiry and believe this to be a targeted incident."
