Owners of a Sheffield guest house are celebrating after winning a national award.

Barnfield Guest House, in Loxley, has received a Gold Award from tourism website ‘Visit England’ after its annual inspection.

Owner Michael Rogers said: “When we bought the property a few years ago, the building was a blank canvas which lent itself to being designed and refurbished specifically to create high quality accommodation.

“We have made various improvements this year to reach the levels of quality required and further enhance our guest’s experience with us – the Gold award is the ultimate prize.”

Michael runs the guest house with wife Helen, who said: “We are just over the moon – we believe Barnfield House is the only 4 Star Guest Accommodation in Sheffield, possibly even South Yorkshire, to have achieved the rarely awarded ‘Gold’ accreditation.”

Victoria Jowett, Training & Quality Manager from Quality in Tourism who performs hotel inspections of behalf of Visit England, said: “The excellent standards of cleanliness in this guest house certainly deserve much praise – even the toilet brushes are bright white!

“Also, Helen’s genuine warm hospitality makes everyone feel at ease.”
