Grimethorpe Colliery Band to perform Charity concert in Wath

THEY’RE the most famous colliery band in the entire world and you can catch them in concert later this month in Wath-upon-Dearne.

Grimethorpe Colliery Band achieved worldwide fame in 1995 when they provided the soundtrack music and extras for the hit film Brassed Off.

Since then the band has toured worldwide.

But now they’re coming home to South Yorkshire to perform a charity concert.

Fundraisers for Rotherham Hospice have organised the event.

Organiser Irene Hartley said: “This will be a great night with top-class music and it’s for a really good cause.”

The concert is at Wath Comprehensive School, Sandygate, on Thursday, June 30, from 7.15pm.Tickets priced £10 are available from the Labour Office on High Street or from Rotherham Hospice furniture shop on Montgomery Square, Wath.
