TRANSPORT Secretary Justine Greening has welcomed Sheffield’s decision to accept £3 million of funding to fund a new pedestrian bridge at the city’s railway station.

The cash has been offered to solve the long-running dispute over plans to install ticket barriers at the station which would prevent non rail passengers using the current footbridge.

Rotherham-born Mrs Greening, pictured above, said: “It is great to be able to bring this issue to a successful close for the benefit of Sheffield residents.”
