Hundreds of thousands of pounds is to be spent making buses more eco-friendly.

Technology that reduces nitrogen dioxide emissions will be fitted to 25 buses on the 51 and 52 routes, using £500,000 from the Department for Transport’s Clean Bus Technology Fund.

It is estimated the measure will cut harmful emissions by 48 tonnes per year in Sheffield. Funding was secured through a joint bid by the Sheffield City Region and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.
