Green is golden for two parks

Two of Chesterfield’s parks have again joined the prestigious ranks of the best in Britain after receiving Green Flag Awards – the national accolade for public and community parks and green spaces.

Holmebrook Valley Park was awarded Green Flag status for the second year running, while Queen’s Park is celebrating its eighth year in a row.

Coun Chris Ludlow, member for the environment, said: “We’ve introduced a number of activities at both parks in recent years and invested in the maintenance, upkeep and facilities on offer. The recent success of our lottery bid for the redevelopment of Eastwood Park in Hasland will also help to put this park forward for a Green Flag award in the future.”
