THE challenge of creating greener homes is to be discussed at a public meeting in a South Yorkshire town.
The event is being organised by Friends of the Earth from 7pm on Thursday, April 18, at St Andrew’s Church, High Street, Penistone.
Discussions will take place about how new homes should be ‘designed to reflect the changing climate, the need to reduce energy bills, to prevent flooding and to make efficient use of water’.
Speakers are Martin Adamson from the Think Low Carbon Centre at Barnsley College, Paul Wright, of Self Build Sustainable Homes and a speaker from Barnsley Council’s Housing and Economy Team.
Rachel Gibbons, Penistone Friends of the Earth co-ordinator, said: “New developments should be built to last.”
