A TOP Green Party member is holding a walking tour of Sheffield today as the organisation’s annual conference gets under way in Sheffield.
Deputy leader Adrian Ramsay will be meeting activists from the Somali community, visiting a co-operative movement called Regather, seeing residents in Sharrow and Highfield, and dropping in on the Wolseley Road mosque.
He is also meeting representatives of Sheffield Renewables, at the site of their proposed water wheel next to Kelham Island industrial museum, which they hope to install to generate electricity.
Adrian said: “I’m delighted to have this opportunity to hear about Sheffield Renewables’ plans. Much of Sheffield’s early industry was based on water power. Growing concerns over climate change mean we must adopt renewable technologies.”
The conference is centred at Hallam University’s city centre campus, Howard Street, where debates are being held each day until Monday.
