The Chesterfield-born teenager has struggled to make an impact at Owlerton after returning from a broken leg which caused him to miss most of 2015.

However, he is keen to focus on a number of encouraging signs which he hopes will soon be reflected with more points.

He fought to a promising three points against former club Workington on Thursday and has shown glimpses of his undoubted potential.

With the highly-rated Tigers enjoying a bright start to the campaign, the former British Youth Champion is delighted his colleagues are helping absolve him of extra pressure.

He is now looking to start having a bigger impact in the lower order - starting when they host Newcastle at Owlerton this Thursday (7.30).

Greaves said: “I suppose things could be better, but I’ve had a couple of good meetings which I’m trying to focus on.

“I’ve had some bad meetings so I need to be more consistent, but I’m enjoying myself at Sheffield and focusing on the positives.

“I’m just making a lot of silly mistakes on track and on the first bend, but I know that sort of thing will come with more experience.

“It’s a long season and I have plenty of time to turn things around, so I’ll just keep working hard and taking advice on board to try to get better.

“I’m enjoying riding for Sheffield and being part of the team. I know I’ll get there, and luckily I’m part of a winning team who can take the pressure off me a little bit.”
