Grassland fire

A STRETCH of railway line near Doncaster was closed for a couple of hours after smoke from a grass fire reduced visibility.

Fire crews spent about two hours extinguishing burning grass and damping down an area of 50 square metres off Carr Lane, Bessacarr, on Sunday evening. They used hoses and beaters to put the fire out.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze had been started deliberately.
