The public vote will be combined with the judges’ vote and the winner will be announced at Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport on Wednesday, October 5. Voting closes on Friday, September 30.
Lewis Eccles – Winner of the UK Disabled Open, the youngster from Mexborough and a student at Wath Comprehensive has used the game to help him combat autism.
Said Jamal – The 15-year-old Clifton Community School rugby league player with Dearne Valley Bulldogs fled with his mother and siblings from the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Bailey Matthews – Doncaster Pride of Britain youngster, battling cerebral palsy threw away walking frame to complete triathlon for second year in a row, beating his previous time by seven minutes.
Dan Porter – Despite his battles with cancer continues to show his commitment to the sport and its development at Sheffield Hallam University. Recognised in the 2016 Birthday Honours List.
Jonathan Thomson – A young golfer, just turned professional, who, at nine, was diagnosed with leukaemia and only survived thanks to the skilful intervention of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
