Nearly £16,000 in grants for a wind turbine will help to herald a low-carbon future for a South Yorkshire village’s new community hall.
The Peak District National Park’s Sustainable Development Fund approved an £11,000 grant which, with £4,800 from Sheffield Council’s Northern Community Assembly, will enable the generation of renewable energy.
The new hall in Dungworth already has many “green” features, including sheep’s wool insulation, rainwater harvesting, recycled stone and local timber. In the future it hopes to have solar panels.
It will be sited in the grounds of Bradfield Dungworth Primary School.
Village hall committee chairman Graham Andrew said: “This will enable us to put the finishing touches to a really sustainable community hall.”
