Grants help residents go green

TENS of thousands of pounds have been handed out in grants to community groups in Sheffield for projects aimed at making the area more environmentally friendly.

Sheffield Council’s East Community Assembly Climate Change Fund has allocated £40,000.

Projects supported included £18,482 for the replacement of doors, windows and a boiler at Arbourthorne Community Centre and £4,400 to develop a small allotment in Darnall.

Funding also paid for replacement windows and doors at Woodthorpe Tenants’ and Residents’ Association offices, the Datic Trust, Darnall, and Stradbroke Community Centre.

The next meeting is at 6.30pm on Thursday March 17 at Church of Christ, Station Road, Darnall.
