Golden couple raise cash for hospital's specialist cancer nurses

GOLDEN couple Dennis and Joan Umpleby turned down anniversary presents to raise money for the Doncaster hospital which is treating Dennis' lung disease.

When they celebrated 50 years of marriage, they decided to ask for donations to the Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s specialist lung cancer nurses.

Now the 590 they donated has been used to buy pulse oximeters, which the nurses use to help monitor patients’ oxygen levels.

Mr Umpleby, of Balby, is a patient at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
