Going to see James, The Feeling and UB40 at Sheffield's Music In The Gardens? Here's EVERYTHING you need to know

Manchester legends James, indie popsters The Feeling, reggae stars UB40 and a rousing "Last Night Of The Proms" style spectacular make up the bill at Sheffield Botanical Gardens with the music taking place from Thursday to Sunday.

Here's all you need to know about the shows - from the times, what they will play, how to get there and where to eat and drink.

WHAT ARE THE SHOWTIMES?

ARE THERE ANY SUPPORT ACTS?

There's support billed on all three of the nights featuring bands - although details of those performing ahead of the main acts have not been released. The Last Night In The Gardens event on Sunday will feature brass, strings and fireworks.

WHAT WILL THEY PLAY?

Each of the three bands is expected to serve up a package of greatest hits. Here's the kind of things you can expect from the trio.

James - The Manchester band, best known for their 90s hit Sit Down, are on their Girl At The End Of The World tour, in support of the album of the same name, so expect a few cuts from that. At their recent Glastonbury appearance, Tim Booth and co delved into the back catalogue with hits such as Come Home, Sometimes, Out To Get You and Laid getting an airing. They don't always play Sit Down though - and are known for not always delivering what you might expect.

The Feeling - Currently pounding the beat across the country on the festival scene, the Brit-award nominated band will probably looking back to 2005 when they enjoyed their greatest and earliest success. Fill My Little World, Never Be Lonely and Love It When You Call should all get a look in. They've also been playing covers of The Buggles' Video Killed The Radio Star and medleys of a string of hits (Day Tripper/Pinball Wizard/Under Pressure/Park Life) so there could be some musical surprises.

UB40 - With a huge back catalogue of hits, there's no shortage of highlights that UB40 could serve up on Saturday night. Kingston Town, Red Red Wine, Can't Help Falling In Love With You, Rat In Mi Kitchen and Homely Girl will no doubt make an appearance in the setlist. The band are renowned for their party feel and laid back vibe - so hopefully the weather will suit their calypso tinged sounds.

Last Night In The Gardens - Unite the Union Brass Band and the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra will join forces to take to the stage for the perfect end to the mini-festival of music. Picnic or feast from food and drink stalls as the gardens bombards your senses with all the rousing style brass and strings music you'd expect from a "Last Night Of The Proms" finale. There will be fireworks too to make the night go with a bang.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

Walking:

Sheffield Botanical Gardens is a fair old stroll from the city centre - about a 40 minute walk from the railway station. Broomhall Road or the A625 Ecclesall Road are the best ways to get to the gardens in Clarkehouse Road.

Buses:

Sheffield Botanical Gardens are served by several bus routes from Sheffield city centre. For buses serving the Gardens main entrance on Clarkehouse Road - numbers 10 (hourly), 30 (half-hourly) and 505 (hourly). Ecclesall Road for the Thompson Road entrance - numbers 81, 82, 83, 84, 85 and 88 serve Ecclesall Road every few minutes. See www.travelsouthyorkshire.com for details of all services and times.

Trams:

The nearest tram stop is University of Sheffield, an 18 minute walk from the Botanical Gardens. A conductor is on every tram so there is no need to buy a ticket before you board. The blue and yellow routes both serve the University stop.

There are Supertram park and ride sites at Meadowhall Interchange (address Barrow Road S9 1EP), Nunnery Square (Sheffield Parkway, S2 5DH), Middlewood (Middlewood Road, S6 1TQ) and Halfway (Eckington Way, S20 3GW) which can all be used to catch trams to the University.

Taxis:

Sheffield city centre to the Botanical Gardens is only a five minute journey and metered taxis are in ready supply outside Sheffield railway station. Expect to pay around around £7.00 for the journey, however this can depend on the number or passengers and baggage.

Trains:

The nearest railway station is Sheffield Midland, which is connected to the Gardens by buses and trams.

Air

The nearest airport is Robin Hood Airport at Doncaster.

I'M DRIVING - HOW DO I GET THERE AND WHERE DO I PARK?

If you are in the car, the full address for your sat nav is: S10 2LN. This will direct you to the main entrance of the Botanical Gardens on Clarkehouse Road. If you are travelling by car, take the B6069 to reach the Clarkehouse Road entrance or the A625 for the Thompson Road entrance..

If you are travelling from the M1, leave at junction 33 and follow Sheffield Parkway.

There are no car parks at the venue. Some disabled parking is available but this is limited - please contact the gardens via email to advise if you will need a disabled parking space reserving. Some on-street car-parking is available, however this is very limited and strictly monitored by parking wardens. Please be cautious and respectful of all timings and fees. The venue strongly recommends all showgoers to make alternative travel arrangements to the venue rather than by car.

There is a Park and Ride facility at the Abbeydale Road Tesco. From here, two bus routes serve the Gardens: 505 operated by TM travel, which runs every half an hour until 6.10pm, stops on Clarkehouse Road, Mondays to Fridays only. 85 operated by First, which stops on Ecclesall Road. This service also runs at the weekend.

CAN I STAY OVER?

There are plenty of hotels - the usual chains - to choose from in Sheffield city centre as well as smaller, independent venues and guest houses dotted around the area to suit all tastes and budgets.

CAN I GET SOMETHING TO EAT AND DRINK INSIDE?

Yes, there will be plenty of options at all four nights. Spoilt For Choice Catering is offering high quality pre-packed picnic boxes to collect on the day while Bradfield Brewery will be providing a well-stocked bar. Café Carte is a small family run business that offers fresh “bean to cup” coffee while Caribbean Fusion will be serving up Caribbean-inspired dishes. The Rotherham Hog Roast Co will serve roast pork sandwiches, BBQ, hot baked spuds, waffles and donuts with Our Cow Molly dishing up home made ice cream.

You are welcome to bring hampers, chairs and blankets as well as your own alcohol and soft drinks if you so wish. Open fires, candles, BBQ’s and chinese lanterns are prohibited for safety reasons. Tents and gazebos are also not permitted on the site.

WHAT ARE THE OTHER FACILITIES?

Young people under the age of 16 need to be accompanied and supervised by a paying adult over the age of 18. Easy access pathways are available throughout the venue for disabled visitors and adapted and easy access toilets are available at the venue. Pets are welcomed at the venue, however, all pets must be kept on a short lead. There will be a first aid tent. There is no cash machine available at the venue. The nearest cash machine to the Botanical Gardens can be accessed via the venue's Thompson Road entrance - this is the HSBC branch on Ecclesall Road.

WHERE CAN I GET A DRINK BEFORE THE SHOW?

There are plenty of bars, pubs and cafes on nearby Ecclesall Road to suit all tastes. The Curator's House Cafe is in the grounds of the Botanical Gardens.

WHERE CAN I GET SOMETHING TO EAT BEFORE OR AFTER THE SHOW?

Again, the majority of showgoers will make tracks for "Eccy" Road after the concerts. There's everything from the usual fast food outlets such as Subway and KFC to restaurants, takeaways and plenty of other eating options.

WHAT'S THE WEATHER GOING TO BE LIKE?

With the Great British weather, it is best to be prepared for all eventualities - so make sure you pack your coat.
