CHESTERFIELD MP Toby Perkins was among politicians who faced a team of celebrities in a charity football match at Stamford Bridge.

The UK Parliamentary Football Club took on a celebrity Cystic Fibrosis Trust XI including Angus Deayton, Omid Djalili, Kyran Bracken, Dalton Grant and Darren Campbell. Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme and footballing hero Gus Poyet also played alongside charity supporters and young Cystic Fibrosis sufferer Chris Kerr.

Mr Perkins played in goal for the parliamentary team which included Russell Brown, Steve Hepburn, Jim Murphy, John Leech and Rob Wilson.

The final score was 6-4 to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

A spokesperson for the CF Trust said: “It was a fantastic day and the MPs really gave our team a run for their money this year, at one point it looked like it might be a draw.

“Toby made a few good saves! We’ve raised over £30,000 from this event and are grateful to everyone.”
