Go green at compost days

Have your say

RESIDENTS keen to do their bit for the environment can find out about home composting at three special information days in Sheffield next month.

The events are being run by Sheffield Council and refuse firm Veolia to mark Compost Awareness Week, which encourages people to compost their garden and food waste at home.

The ‘compost surgeries’ take place from 10am to 3pm each day – on May 4 at Sainsbury’s on Archer Road, on May 6 at Asda in Handsworth and also on May 6 on Fargate in Sheffield city centre.

A compost bin sale is also happening on May 7 at Anns Grove Primary School in Heeley from 10am to 4pm, which will raise funds for nearby Heeley City Farm.

Compost bins will be on offer for £12, and water butts for £21.
