Go-ahead for apartments despite residents' protests

PLANS to develop 22 apartments on the site of a large house in a picturesque village near Chesterfield have been recommended for approval despite objections from villagers.

Residents claim the apartments on the site of Belmont House, a substantial house and tower on Holymoor Road, Holymoorside, will overlook their homes and result in loss of privacy. They also say the development will result in an increase in traffic in an area where there are existing problems due to traffic from the nearby school.

But the planning chief is recommending North East Derbyshire councillors approve the scheme, saying it is in keeping with the site and its surroundings and does not have a significant detrimental effect on the amenity of neighbouring properties or road safety.
