Glossop firefighters called out after van crashes

Police and the fire service were called out after a driver lost control of his van and crashed.

The crash happened on the A628, near Salter’s Brook Bridge and Woodhead Pass, about 11.50am, today, Saturday, December 5.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “The incident involved one box van and no one was trapped.

“The driver was in the care of the ambulance service and the police also attended.”

Glossop firefighters made the area safe for other motorists by 12.55pm.

The A628 Woodhead Pass area had been declared closed to high-sided vehicles by the Highways Agency earlier in the day after Storm Desmond gripped the region.
