STRUT that mutt!

RSPCA Sheffield Branch is calling on the city’s pooches and people to join them in a sponsored walk to raise vital funds for the charity.

The Animal Centre comes under the umbrella of RSPCA but is a standalone charity.

The centre has to raise all its own funds to be able to survive and continue to rehabilitate and rehome cruelly treated and unwanted animals.

And running the centre based in Attercliffe, Sheffield, costs around £2,000 a day.

General manager for the RSPCA Sheffield Branch Stella White said they organise a number of events which help people keep fit and meet new people.

Stella said: “We have a wealth of events which are wonderful opportunities to socialise, make new friends and get gently fit, whilst raising vital funds for our charity.

“The sponsored walk on Sunday is one of these great events and we are hoping that people and their pooches will sign up and come and have some fun with us.

“The gentle five-mile walk by the canal will start and finish at the Sheffield Animal Centre, 2 Stadium Way, Attercliffe, Sheffield, S9 3HN.

“Refreshments will be available. Under-16s are welcome but they must be accompanied by an adult.”

Registration is between 10.30am and 11.30am. For more information or a sponsor form log on to, call 0114 2898057 or text 07742 150997.
