Girls get that fun and Funky feeling

Have your say

Getting Funky all summer long.

That’s the girls from Funky Dance Fever who have spent an action packed fund raising summer shimmering like satsumas in their neon orange outfits as they added vibrancy to events around the city.

So far they have performed at Cancer Research UK Race for Life, Picnic in the Park at Hollinsend Park, Ballifield Summer Fayre and Stannington Carnival.

At Stannington the girls simply sizzled as they danced in tropical conditions to give an energetic performance full of smiles despite the blistering 33 degree temperature.

They performed a range of dance styles including disco, jazz, contemporary and street dance to all the up to date chart songs.

They even involved their audience in one routine - a mash up of Cotton Eye Joe, Grease, Beyonce’s Single Ladies and Gangnam Style.

Amy Burton who teaches the dance group with her sister Jo said: say: “We are so proud of our girls for showcasing their fantastic talents, whilst raising money for local charities this summer.”

The Funky Dance Fever group have raised thousands of pounds for many charities over the last five years including St Luke’s Hospice, The Fire Fighter’s Charity, Amy’s House, British Heart Foundation, Armed Forces Charities, and Comic Relief. The girls are keen to help out with any future charity events. If you would like them to perform at your event, please contact Amy or Jo on 0114 2696411.
