Girls escape blazing home

TWO teenagers had a lucky escape in the early hours of this morning when flames from a car that had been deliberately set alight spread to the house where they were sleeping.

The girls were asleep at their home in Clarney Avenue, Darfield, when they and neighbours were alerted by a smoke alarm just before 4am. They escaped unhurt.

A spokesman at Brampton fire station said flames from the Ford Ka had spread to the house, burning a back door, guttering and fascias.
