Giddy up to help disabled in Rotherham

A disabled riding school in Rotherham is urgently seeking new volunteers.

High Hopes Riding for the Disabled group, based in Thorpe Hesley, needs volunteers to help with general duties including stable hands and side walkers.

Some experience and knowledge of horses is preferred but ongoing training will be provided.

Sarah Holmes, group treasurer of the organisation, said: “If you can spare a few hours or even a few days a week where you think you may be able to offer your services please call 07900 534512.”

High Hopes provides people with a disability with instruction in horse riding and horse care.

The aim is to help build confidence and independence whilst having fun. The scheme improves health through physical activity.

Riding instruction takes place in an indoor area and group activities include riding outside for dressage and countryside challenge competitions.

A contribution will be made towards travelling expenses for volunteers.
