Ghostly fun in the woods for Halloween

THERE will be wizardry afoot in South Yorkshire beauty-spots when woodland workers conjure up free Halloween events.

Spine-tingling ghost walks, pumpkin carving, and games and crafts will be on offer at four woods – Brodsworth Community Wood, Bentley Community Wood, Kiveton Community Wood and Phoenix Park in Thurnscoe.

On Sunday October 28, from 11am to 2pm, pumpkin carving sessions will be held at Brodsworth, and on Monday October 29 from 1pm to 2.30pm there will be walks, carving and games at Kiveteon.

Events are suitable for children of all ages, but youngsters must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided.

Booking is essential – call 01302 820 278.

Treats in park

Treats not tricks will be on offer when young visitors to a Sheffield park get into the Halloween spirit.

The Friends of Chapeltown and High Green Parks are running a morning of mask- and lantern-making in Chapeltown Park on Saturday, October 27, from 10am until noon.

Participation is free although donations towards a new play area for the park are welcome.
