Get ready for action as Arenacross visits Sheffield

The penultimate round of the Monster Energy Arenacross Tour rides into the city tonight (February 13). The show features riders from across the globe, including the US, Spain and Finland, competing against some of the best Britain has to offer. There are five classes with riders as young as seven taking part.

And there will even be some home-grown talent to cheer on when 13-year-old Kurt Griffiths, from Worksop, takes to the circuit.

Kurt changed category half-way through the tour, after realising the small-capacity 85cc KTM was too small to carry his 5ft 9in frame. But after moving up to the ProLites category in round six of the 11-round tour, he has performed much better.

He currently stands 10th in the ProLites championship with only four rounds under his belt. His results are even more impressive considering the Year 9 pupil from Serlby Park Academy broke his arm just four months before the 2016 series got underway, and had only 15 hours of riding time on his new machine prior to getting in the thick of it at Birmingham.

Kurt’s mother Lisa said: “We think he’s had enough upheaval this year and so to see him smile and finish the races without breaking a bone is enough for us. He on the other hand wants to be back winning, and especially this weekend with all his family and friends in the audience.”
