A tourist visiting Sheffield is stranded in the city after having her purse stolen this evening.

The Sheffield Central policing team have asked people to be on the lookout for her documents after they were taken at 5pm.

A police spokesman said: "A female visiting from Germany has had her purse stolen from Caffe Nero in the Millennium Square, Sheffield, some time around 5pm this evening.

"The bag contained her ID cards, train tickets, money and all other travel documents. As it stands she is now stranded.

"The bag is described as a large black rectangular purse with a round metal clasp on the front.

"The female is due to fly back to Germany at 4pm tomorrow, so needs to be reunited with her documents asap. Please spread the word and keep eyes peeled for any German documentation in the city centre."
