Generous help for baby appeal

Have your say

Generous residents have donated more than 800 balls of wool to make clothes for premature babies who have died.

The Co-operative Funeralcare on Gateford Road, Worksop, set up a collection in July 2011 for Lisa’s Stars, a charity set up by mother-of-two Lisa Davies after she lost five babies.

She had found the only clothes available in the right size were dolls’ clothes.

The donated wool is sent to Lisa’s network of volunteers who knit booties, coats and hats to send on to hospitals for bereaved families.

Joanna Jackson, funeral arranger, said: “People have seen our appeal and have been so generous, one lady also knitted some little outfits which we sent to the charity.”
