Residents at Silver Lodge care home in Chapeltown welcomed members of the 10th Sheffield Parson Cross Scouts, Cubs and Beavers group, who donated food for Christmas hampers and helped to make presents.

The visit was organised through the ‘A Million Hands’ campaign - a scouts-led scheme which aims to build lasting relationships between different generations within local communities.

Jayne Vickers, home manager at Silver Lodge, said: “We were delighted to welcome the cubs and beavers to the home, which was a great experience for our residents.

“Christmas is a time of giving and it is always nice to engage with the community and give our residents the opportunity to meet with guests and take part in activities.

“Hopefully the children took a lot away from the visit and it supported their campaign, which is an excellent initiative.”

She added: “I would like to thank the 10th Sheffield (Parson Cross) Scouts, Cubs and Beavers for their visit and for donating the food, which was a really nice gesture.
