Increases in charges for green bin collections have been criticised.
Sheffield Council has increased the price of the service from £57.60 to £60 for this year – which pays for two collections a month between May and November.
One angry resident, Helen Matthews, of Crispin Drive, Gleadless, said: “I thought the council was active in recycling, not trying to make it as hard as possible. We cannot put waste in black bins as they are only collected every fortnight and are full.
“I don’t mind paying for the service as I did last year but why put the price up and collect less? Most people’s garden year starts in April and ends in October.”
The council said it has increased charges for some services to off-set the impact of £50 million of budget cuts.
