plans for a garden share scheme in Tickhill, Doncaster, appear to have fallen on stony ground.
Tickhill Town Council, which has a waiting list for allotments, is hoping to encourage householders to share part of their garden with people who want to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
But so far the project has not received a great response from residents.
Several have offered garden plots but only one gardener has so far come forward to cultivate them.
Doncaster Council’s Neighbourhood Team officer Clair Scott has also confirmed that Section 106 monies from planning development approvals cannot be used to fund new allotments as they are not classed as open space and as such would not benefit the whole community.
