SHIREGREEN United Reformed Church’s Children and Families Project in Sheffield is one step closer to transforming an unused piece of land on Valentine Crescent into a safe community garden, thanks to a grant of £5,000 from the Veolia Environmental Trust.
The garden will be a safe space where local residents can socialise, and children can play as they participate in community activities at the centre.
The project will install both a connecting door from the church community hall to the garden, and decking to provide safe and all-ability access to the play area.
Planting beds suitable for children and people with disabilities will also be created.
The whole garden area will be open to local residents and to groups.
