A POLICE war on postcode gang members dealing drugs across Sheffield has led to 70 arrests so far.
South Yorkshire Police led a series of co-ordinated dawn raids last week aimed at rooting out members of gangs dealing drugs on the streets of Sheffield. The aim of the operation, which is continuing this week, is to try to dismantle postcode gangs by removing members who deal drugs.
Police hope their work will reduce the amount of infighting between rival gangs and serve as a warning to younger members at risk of becoming embroiled with dealing and other criminality.
Between 2007 and 2009 four postcode gang members were killed in Sheffield.
