Gala weekend brings comedy, music and a parade to town

A weekend of comedy and music is lined up thanks to the annual Penistone Gala.

The two-dayer, run by volunteers from Penistone Round Table, Penistone Scouts and Penistone Ladies Circle, together with Penistone Town Council, takes place between Friday June 10 and Sunday June 12.

The weekend is centred around Penistone Showground and comprises four separate events: Friday night - comedy in a tent; Saturday afternoon - festival of folk; Saturday night -rock concert; Sunday - mayor’s parade and gala day

The theme of this year’s parade is children’s author Roald Dahl, who was born 100 years ago this year.
