Future energy under spotlight

Have your say

PLANS to promote renewable energy across Sheffield came under the spotlight at an event at the Octagon Centre.

The Energy Lab day, attended by representatives from local businesses, Sheffield University and the city council, was organised by Building for the Future Ltd.

The goal was to try to ensure that different groups around the city are pulling together to develop more efficient approaches to energy.

Delegates heard only two per cent of energy used by the Sheffield city region comes from renewable sources, compared to nine per cent nationally.

Results from a local survey revealed many people would resent paying more for such energy - but also revealed there was confusion about what renewable energy actually was.
