FURD to screen documentary

FOOTBALL Unites Racism Divides is once again to screen the acclaimed documentary film Zanzibar Soccer Queens - but this time it’s strictly for members of the fairer sex.

The screening, which is free, will be next Tuesday, February 12, at 6pm at the U-Mix Centre, in Asline Road, Lowfield, and this time is just for women and girls.

The film is about a mainly Muslim women’s football team in Zanzibar, East Africa, and challenges stereotypes about gender, race and religion.

The U-Mix Centre is now a female-only space on Tuesday evenings between 5.30pm and 7pm.

There’s a free youth club for girls aged 11 and over which offers various activities including the use of the centre’s dance and recording studios and digital media centre.
