The body of Caroline Everest, aged 18, of Exley Avenue, Walkley, was discovered in the Porter Brook river a few days after she was last seen leaving Corporation nightclub in the early hours of November 22.

The Sheffield Hallam student, who was known as Carrie, failed to turn up for work the following day and missed a family dinner.

Police subsequently launched an appeal to find her. Her funeral service is set to take place on Tuesday, January 19 at Grenoside Crematorium.

A message from Carrie’s family read: “The family would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt messages, prayers and flowers.”

Carrie’s parents paid tribute to their daughter a few weeks after her death, calling her a ‘treasured, perfect daughter’.

Thousands of Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County supporters stood up to give a minute’s applause in memory of the Owls fan during their game at Hillsborough last month.

A donation box on the day of the funeral will be available, with the proceeds going to charity.
