A schoolgirl from Rotherham has raised over £300 for the Catholic Aid charity ‘World Gifts’ scheme, which offers support and relief to poor comunities around the globe.

The ten-year-old, named only as Florence, hosted a number of fundraising efforts to collect the money, which she used to buy two goats and a piglet for a poor community.

Anne Prior, CAFOD representative for Hallam, said: “Florence has been like a breath of fresh air to our work in the Hallam Diocese, taking an interest and joining out CAFOD voluneter group, fast becoming a valuable member and a key parish volunteer.

“She spoke to a group of 40 volunteers at our Lent preparation meeting, as she thought the parish would listen to someone younger like her.”
Florence said: “I like being able to do something to help those in poverty.”
