A Rotherham businesswoman has organised a networking lunch to help raise money towards the cost of a life size bronze statue to commemorate Sheffield’s Women of Steel.

Lisa Pogson, director of air conditioning and heating company Airmaster, is hosting the event at Rotherham’s Carlton Park Hotel on December 13.

Money raised will help with the cost of creating a statue to be placed outside Sheffield City Hall in recognition of the women who worked in the city’s steel industry during the two world wars.

Some ‘Women of Steel’ are due to attend the event to talk about their experiences.

Ms Pogson said: “I cannot wait to hear these inspiring women, now in their 80s and 90s, share their amazing and courageous experiences from their time in the factories.”

The networking lunch will run from 11.30am-2.30pm. Tickets cost £15.95 plus VAT for Chamber of Commerce members.
