Fundraising events to help Sheffield's homeless

The events are all planned to benefit the Cathedral Archer Project in Sheffield city centre, which offers a free breakfast, washing facilities, help and support for those on the streets.

Heath professionals, including a nurse and dentist, also visit the project to see those who would otherwise go without treatment.

The fundraising events have been organised by students as their final projects.

On Saturday, February 20 a murder mystery event is to be held at Whirlowbrook Hall, with tickets costing £40, including a three-course meal.

A race night is to be held at The Greystones on Wednesday, February 24 and a Night At The Musicals event is to be held at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria on Friday, February 26.

A ladies night is planned for Friday, March 4 and will be held at the Rutland Hotel, Sheffield.

Beer lovers are invited to an educational beer dinner at Brewdog bar in Devonshire Street, Sheffield city centre, on Thursday, March 10, with four taster courses each serves with a craft beer.

A street food market will be set up on the Sheffield Cathedral forecourt on Saturday, March 12 from 11am-5pm, with food from around the world on offer.

The Cathedral Archer Project was set up in 1989 when the cathedral was becoming a regular place of shelter for the homeless.

Congregation members used to provide them with a breakfast.

In 2007 a purpose built venue on Campo Lane was opened as a base for serving the breakfasts.

It also offers a lounge area with access to computers and space for education and activity sessions as well as laundry facilities.

The project welcomes donations of clothes, food and toiletries.
