Fun in the sun for Yorkshire Wildlife Park's polar bears

A pair of polar bears had the perfect answer for the heatwave by plunging into their deep cool lake for a playful wrestle.

Their splashdown thrilled visitors at the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park as the temperature soared around Britain.Pixel and Nissan played in the lake at Project Polar and rare Amur tigers Vlad and Tschuna and their cubs made it a family day in the water at Land of the Tiger.“The animals love playing around in the water and with these temperatures, it is a perfect way to stay cool and have fun,” said Yorkshire Wildlife Park's CEO, Cheryl Williams.

“There is plenty of water for the animals to have a swim when the temperature rises and the visitors love watching them have fun.”

The park, at Branton, near Doncaster is home to almost 400 animals and staff have been ensuring they have enough water to drink as well as the facilities to have a splashing time in the sun.
