Families gathered to enjoy a day of colourful and creative literature as part of the Stannington Story Festival.

Scores of visitors packed into Stannington’s Knowle Top Chapel last Saturday to enjoy storytelling that covered a wide range of topics. Colourful characters including Captain No-Beard and Lola the Bookworm provided entertainment on the day.

Meanwhile, ukulele group WUFF provided a musical interlude and invited audience members to join in a sing-a-long version of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s 60s hit Daydream.

Organiser Bob Mynors said: “I am sure everyone had a lot of fun, and all our contributors earned the applause they received.

“I’m sure we’ll be back next year, probably in late September.”
