Full of knowledge

I totally agree with your piece in The Star about taxi drivers supposedly having the knowledge in Sheffield.

A taxi cab.

I was a hackney cab in Sheffield for more than 30 years and when I took my knowledge test it took me three attempts, as it was a lot harder than the one now.

When you order a cab you at least hope that the driver is capable of getting you to your destination without the use of a sat nav.

The standard of driving has deteriorated as well – sometimes they make me nervous even though I have been driving more than 40 years.

By the way, Miss Beardmore, did you know that the original black cabs were made by a firm called Beardmore?

Note from Ellen Beardmore: Yes, I did know that, MD and there is also the Beardmore Glacier in Antarctica.
