COUNCILLORS in Sheffield have welcomed the Government’s decision to postpone their hike in fuel duty.
Chancellor George Osborne announced the planned 3p-a-litre hike would be put back from August until next January.
Shaffaq Mohammed, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Sheffield Council, said: “This decision recognises that for many people in Sheffield running a car is essential.
“Postponing the fuel duty rise is the right thing to do to support families at a time when they need help.”
Labour leader Ed Miliband said the announcement was a ‘sign of panic’.
